one of the most common reasons that people hesitate to tackle their home design projects {or so i’ve been told}, is that the project is too overwhelming, too expensive, or too difficult to start. sometimes the best advise i can give is to keep it simple – if your budget doesn’t allow for a room make-over complete with new designer furnishings, that’s ok. if you don’t have enough time to complete the entire project in one weekend, start it anyway! it’s easy to take little steps to make a big impact in the design of your home! just to show you how true this is, today i’m sharing some simple “before & afters” … one client who didn’t need a complete redesign but a simple freshen up! more simple update design projects to follow later this week!
“before” :: this wonderful client simply wanted an update to her existing sofa and accent cushions, and draperies to frame the beautiful view off the back of her home!
first … here are the gorgeous fabrics that we selected for her windows! we paired them with a few more stunning fabrics to recover the accent pillows in her great room and even added a couple pre-made pillows.
“after” :: the finished result! bold fabrics make the existing sofa look fresh and new, and visual height is added to the window, making the ceiling look even higher and the room even larger! design tip :: when hanging drapes, try raising the drapery rods at least 6″ – 8″ above the window trim to make the ceiling height of the room appear taller!
