design without “rules” ::

Remember years ago when there were so many “rules” of fashion and design?  “Don’t wear stripes with plaids” …. “small rooms aren’t meant for dark colors” …. you get the idea!  This recent powder bath refresh that I completed with my friend and client goes to show that rules are meant to be broken!

“before”

 Like so many powder bathrooms, this powder bath shared the color and feel of the neighboring hall, but longed for a personality all its own!  Our first job was to find the perfect color, and Sherwin-Williams Otter did the trick.  Then we found a large thrifted frame and changed the color to match that of the wall.  In went a gorgeous piece of textured fabric and a unique piece of wall art was born!

Here’s the original frame before its transformation {I posted the steps a while back for you do-it-yourselfers}.  All it took was imagination and a bit of elbow grease to create a new focal point for the powder bathroom!

A powder bathroom is the one room that often goes overlooked, but is one that your guests all see when they stop to visit for the upcoming holidays.  Need help giving your powder bathroom a quick refresh?  Leave a comment if you’d like information about a design consultation or e-consultation before your holiday guests arrive!
